Cambodia Welcomes Support from Friendly Countries for Siem Reap-Angkor Summit on a Mine-Free World


Cambodia welcomes support from friendly countries, development partners and all stakeholders for the success of her chairmanship and hosting of the Siem Reap-Angkor Summit on a Mine-Free World to be held later this year.

The remarks were made by H.E. Dr. Ly Thuch, Senior Minister and First Vice President of the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA), while receiving here this morning H.E. Martin Vavra, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Cambodia.

H.E. Senior Minister also laid stress on the demining efforts of the Royal Government of Cambodia and the Kingdom’s goal to achieve the mine-free status by 2025.

For his part, H.E. Martin Vavra lauded Cambodia’s progress as well as her achievements in the mine action sector.

Regarding the organisation of Siem Reap-Angkor Summit on a Mine-Free World, the Czech ambassador pledged to raise Cambodia’s request to his government for review and consideration.

With its heavy experience, Cambodia was elected to chair and host the 5th Review Confer
ence of the Mine Ban Convention, the Siem Reap-Angkor Summit on a Mine-Free World, in November 2024 in Siem Reap cultural province, with the participation of delegates from 164 countries and international organisations.
