Cambodian Delegation Attends LDC Ministers Meeting in Switzerland

AKP Phnom Penh–A Cambodian delegation led by H.E. Pan Sorasak, Minister of Commerce, has attended the Least Developed Countries (LDC) Ministers Meeting, on the sidelines of the WTO’s 12th Ministerial Conference (MC12) in Geneva, Switzerland.

At the meeting held on June 12, H.E. Pan Sorasak mentioned about challenges LDCs have been facing in gaining full advantages from trade preference progorammes despite getting capacity building and technical assistance so far.

The minister added that all LDCs must request for more capacity building and technical assistance, which not only gives them full benefit from the trade preferences and full integration in multilateral trading system, but also helps them maintain their competitiveness for an inclusive and resilient economic development.

He stressed that the LDCs must continue to demand special treatment and development to become a core principle of the world trading system.

H.E. Pan Sorasak further suggested strengthening cooperation and increasing participation of LDC Group in all WTO councils and committees for their maximum interest.
