National Campaign on COVID-19 Prevention to be Launched Next Week

A National Health Education Campaign to prevent the spread of COVID-19 will be launched in Kampong Speu province on Mar. 22.

The update was shared in a press release of the Ministry of Health issued yesterday, adding that the launching ceremony will take place under the presidency of H.E. Mam Bunheng, Minister of Health.

H.E. Dr. Or Vandine, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Health and Chairwoman of the National Ad-hoc Commission for COVID-19 Vaccination, Dr. Li Ailan, Representative of the World Health Organisation (WHO) in Cambodia, and Mrs. Foroogh Foyozat, Representative of UNICEF in Cambodia, will also join the event.

With the slogan “Omicron Variant of COVID-19 Infected Rapidly Causing Risks to You and Family”, the campaign was aimed to promote shared responsibility to contain the spread of the disease.

It will call on individuals, families, communities, concerned institutions and local authorities to contribute to preventing the transmission of Omicron variant so as to enhance a sustainably safe new normal.

Omicron is actively and rapidly spreading in the globe and the region including Cambodia and demands public precaution in the implementation of the Ministry of Health’s safety measures.

On Mar. 17, the ministry reported 132 new cases of COVID-19 Omicron variant, of which 124 were locally transmitted and 8 were imported, and the national tally now rose to 134,624, including 14,171 Omicron cases.
