11th ASEAN Para Games: Running Grabs Another Gold Medal for Cambodia

Female athlete, Vith Chantha, this afternoon won one more gold medal for Cambodia, at the 11th ASEAN Para Games being held in Solo, Indonesia.

This is the 5th gold medal for the Kingdom. It was obtained in women’s T44/64 400-metre running.

Earlier, Ms. Vith Chantha also obtained a silver medal in the women’s 200-metre running.

On his social media network, Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen extended his congratulations to the gold medalist.

Cambodia has so far earned in total 15 medals including five gold in wheelchair basketball, long jump, boccia and running; six silver in swimming, wheelchair racing and running; and four bronze in table tennis, swimming, wheelchair racing, and international chess, according to the Cambodian SEA Games Organising Committee (CAMSOC).

Cambodia has sent 115 athletes to compete in 11 sport disciplines including athletics, swimming, men’s and women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s wheelchair basketball, blind basketball, Seven-a-side football, table tennis, badminton, weightlifting, chess, and boccia.

In the 9th ASEAN Para Games in Malaysia, Cambodia got 5 silver and 5 bronze medals. The 10th games, scheduled to be hosted by the Philippines, were cancelled due to the COVID-19 threat.
