Ministry of Land Management’s New Office Building Officially Inaugurated

The new office building of the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction was put into official use this morning under the presidency of Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen.
Speaking on the occasion, the Premier expressed appreciation for the new building, adding that the former building will be handed over to the Ministry of Rural Development while the latter’s building will be given to Phnom Penh Municipal Department of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction.
According to Samdech Techo Prime Minister, three ministries’ new office buildings are scheduled to be inaugurated this year. The other two are the Ministry of Public Works and Transport inaugurated in January and the Ministry of National Defence in late December.
Located on an area of 4.5 hectares in Sangkat Khmougn, Khan Sensok, Phnom Penh, the 7-storey new building of the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction was broken ground in January 2020, and the construction, costing over US$28 million, was completed in March 2021.
The inauguration ceremony was previously planned for April 2021, but was postponed to November 2021 due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Cambodian PM Urges Attention to Work Efficiency

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, this morning advised his competent officials to pay high attention to work efficiency.
Addressing to the inauguration ceremony of the new office building of the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction in Phnom Penh, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said work efficiency has to be prioritied for all state institutions and ministries.
“If we have nice office, but no work efficiency, it will be zero. But if we have nice office, plus work efficiency, we will bring about benefit to our nation,” he underlined.
Work efficiency is also stated clearly in the Rectangular Strategy of the Royal Government, added Samdech Techo Hun Sen.
The Premier also encouraged energy saving practices at workplace such as switching off power sources when leaving office, setting the temperature (at 25 degrees Celsius) of air-conditioner, and so on.

Cambodia To Celebrate 68th Independence Day Tomorrow

Cambodia is going to celebrate the 68th anniversary of national independence from France on Nov. 9 (1953-2021), under the royal presidency of His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia.
On the occasion, the monarch will light the “victory flame” at the Independence Monument in Phnom Penh, which will be kept burning for three days.
High-ranking officials will participate in the ceremony with a crowd of Phnom Penh residents and students in attendance.
Foreign Ambassadors to Cambodia are also expected to be present at the event.
This afternoon, delegations from different government ministries and institutions will take turn to lay wreaths at the Independence Monument and the Royal Statue of the late King-Father Samdech Preah Norodom Sihanouk, located near the Independence Monument, to mark the Independence Day.
In the evening of Nov. 9 and 11, at 7:00, there will be fireworks in front of the Royal Palace to make the celebration more joyful.

Phnom Penh’s Constructions See Dramatic Increase

Constructions in the capital city of Phnom Penh have been dramatically increased, Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen mentioned this morning.
While presiding over the inauguration ceremony of the new office building of the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said the capital city has been expanded from around 300 square kilometres to nearly 700 square kilometres.
“The density of the building in Phnom Penh before was one hectare with 5,000 square metres of building, but now one hectare with some 50,000 square metres of building,” he stressed.
The Premier added that all development projects will put pressure on the environment.
According to the Ministry of Tourism, Cambodia’s rapid economic growth these past years accelerated urban growth in and around Phnom Penh. A modern metropolis dominated by skyscrapers and surrounded by satellite cities has morphed from a city once dominated by gravel roads, a low-rise and colonial buildings. More high-rise buildings are being developed.
Once hailed, the ’Pearl of Asia’, Phnom Penh is fast regaining its lustre having developed to become the nation›s economic, commercial, cultural and tourist centre.

Cambodian Premier Warns of Misinterpretation of 1991 Paris Peace Agreement

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has warned all analysts and politicians who misinterpreted the 1991 Paris Peace Agreement.
At the inauguration ceremony of the new office building of the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction in Phnom Penh this morning, Samdech Techo Hun Sen explained some facts about the Paris Peace Agreement of 1991, stressing that any misinterpretation which affects the function of the state institutions will face legal action.
The Premier continued that no need to use any ASEAN mechanism in the internal affairs of Cambodia even though the Kingdom will hold the ASEAN Chairmanship next year.
The Paris Peace Agreement offered a Comprehensive Political Settlement of the Cambodia Conflict signedon Oct. 23, 1991 by Cambodia and 18 other nations in the presence of the United Nations Secretary-General.
This led to the first general election in Cambodia in 1993 supervised by the United Nations Transitional Authority in Cambodia (UNTAC).
