New Brindleyplace App, Powered by HqO, Brings Community Together

New Workplace Experience Platform Connects Tenants, Occupiers, and Retailers Across 11 Buildings and More Than 25 Restaurants and Bars at the City’s Premier Mixed-Use Estate

BIRMINGHAM, United Kingdom, June 10, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) —

Brindleyplace has launched a UK-first app, Brindley Life, that’s already helping tenants and employees get the most out of the city’s premier mixed-use estate.

The highly innovative app powered by Boston-based workplace experience platform HqO in a first for a UK mixed-use development delivers an exciting range of exclusive content, retail offers and deals, all helping connect Brindleyplace’s 30 commercial tenants, including Deloitte, Deutsche Bank, and the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, with their employees.

Since going live in April, the app has seen huge demand and has already been downloaded almost 1,000 times meaning it has had almost 15% take up amongst all employees across the estate in just a few weeks.

Professional services firm Deloitte generated the most employee take up during the launch, with more than 100 of its Brindleyplace employees downloading the app in its first week of use. High employee engagement was also seen with recruiters Odgers Berndston, Unity Trust Bank, and office and meeting space provider Landmark.

It is the most successful launch yet of the HqO platform in the UK and recent employee events have underlined the early popularity of its app. It seamlessly merges building technology like security and access with wider community, leisure, and lifestyle uses.

It all adds up to a workplace experience platform that makes a positive difference to people’s busy lives. HqO has also played a key role in supporting employees returning to the office post-pandemic and adds a further dimension to employee and tenant engagement.

The most popular downloads and content so far includes the estate’s wellbeing programme, especially the regular yoga, massage and meditation sessions. There’s also regular prize draws, freebies and details of local amenities, all promoted and made accessible directly through people’s phones.

Brindleyplace expects even more opportunities for people to network and engage with the estate via the app in the future, and is now planning additional functionality around travel, facilities and event bookings, as well as click and collect retail and delivery options.

Matt Long, Head of Customer Engagement and Placemaking, Brindleyplace, said:

“Brindleyplace is constantly evolving to benefit all of the businesses and employees who work here. Our Brindley Life app has already been enthusiastically received by customers across the estate, and represents a natural progression in terms of delivering improved accessibility and convenience. The app allows people to enjoy everything we have to offer and to access it right from the palm of their hand.

“Listening to our clients and working with HqO has enabled us to adapt quickly to changing business and retail requirements, and we’re looking forward to seeing how the Brindley Life app evolves over the coming months and years and becomes an even more essential part of employees’ lives at Brindleyplace.”

The HqO app also lets onsite retailers create exclusive offers and discounts, providing access to a captive audience. This includes deals available exclusively through the app and specifically for Brindley Life users at Brindleyplace. For example, an exclusive partnership with HqO partner Ritual, allows for order-ahead food options for tenants at their fingertips.

“Brindleyplace is widely regarded as one of the UK’s finest mixed-use estates, and an example of canalside and city centre regeneration at its best. It has been rightly recognised for its leading role in Birmingham’s business community and for attracting top quality employers to the city centre,” said Samuel Warren, VP at HqO Europe.

“It’s also a trailblazer when it comes to work-life balance and community, and we’re honoured that Brindleyplace selected HqO as its tenant experience partner. Our platform is all about elevating the tenant experience and feedback indicates that people at Brindleyplace are already enjoying exactly that,” Sam added.

Australia’s Largest Event Vivid Sydney Captured in a Whole New Light

Vivid Sydney 2022 – The Lighting of the Sails’ Yarrkalpa

Vivid Sydney 2022 – The Lighting of the Sails’ Yarrkalpa

SYDNEY, June 10, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Spectacular, awe-inspiring photos of Vivid Sydney 2022 illuminating Sydney’s central business district skyline and Sydney Harbour have been released by global content creator Eugene Tan of Aquabumps.

Australia’s largest event and a celebration of creativity, innovation and technology, Vivid Sydney was captured for the very first time by Tan in his first ever professional night shoot of the city. The resulting content is a distinct departure from the trademark coastal photography Tan is globally renowned for and showcases the festival to a global audience following a two-year hiatus.

Minister for Enterprise, Investment and Trade, Minister for Tourism and Sport and Minister for Western Sydney said Vivid Sydney is back bigger and better in 2022.

“Vivid Sydney is back and I’m thrilled the 2022 opening weekend saw record numbers attend the festival. The action-packed program delivers a return to the excitement and adventure that we all need to feel again,” Mr Ayres said.

“Eugene Tan, one of our state’s best content creators, has collaborated with Vivid Sydney to showcase the festival in its beautiful splendour.

“His photos and video will help us spread the word and show the world why they need to come and experience Sydney at its creative best after dark.”

Among the Vivid Sydney program shot to be part of the series includes unique vision of the Sydney Opera House Lighting of the Sails, Australia’s largest ever liquid & light show Sydney Infinity at Darling Harbour, Crown Tower at Barangaroo’s inaugural activation The Gallery, and the largest laser installation ever seen at Vivid Sydney – Convergence, in the disused Goods Line railway tunnel.

The series will capture Vivid Sydney’s longest ever continuous Light Walk which stretches a record 8km from the Sydney Opera House to Central Train Station in 2022.

Aquabumps’ founder Eugene Tan said shooting Vivid Sydney for the first time was an exciting opportunity to do something new and showcase a different side to his home city.

“It’s not very often that I venture away from the coast but shooting Vivid Sydney was an experience I’ll never forget. To see the city and its icons – from the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House to Darling Harbour – illuminated for Vivid Sydney was mesmerising and made for an epic creative challenge.

“I hope the images capture the brilliance of the festival and inspire people to go and witness the magic of Vivid Sydney for themselves,” said Tan.

ASTERRA Hosts Delegation to Introduce Innovative Water-Saving Technology in Italy

Italian Delegation Meeting with ASTERRA

ASTERRA hosts a delegation of 21 Italian water utilities led by officials from the Israel Trade Office

TEL AVIV, Israel, June 09, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — This week, ASTERRA hosted a delegation of 21 Italian water utilities led by officials from the Israel Trade Office to explore water saving innovation from Israel. The delegates were introduced to Israeli-based water technology companies who provided information and opportunities to bring the innovation to their utilities in Italy.

The various regions and municipalities in Italy have differing water challenges, and often their approaches and resolutions to these challenges differ. ASTERRA Chief Executive Officer, Elly Perets said, “The information shared during this summit will drive Italian water stakeholders to integrate new technologies and methodologies. They can learn from water-scarce countries such as Israel. When collaborations highlight inter-organizational innovation strategies and increase the focus on water digitalization, we see improvement in related water networks. This accelerates the drive to sustainability.”

Known as a water-tech powerhouse, Israel is home to many innovative water solutions. Besides ASTERRA, some of the other Israeli water tech companies presenting included leaders in the water industry such as Mekorot, Kando, NUF, WaterGen, and Lishtot. The group also toured the Shafdan Wastewater Treatment Plant and the Palmachim Desalination Plant during their visit.

The program began with an address by Franco Masenello, an expert on leak detection and the chief executive officer of 2f Water Venture SRL. 2f Water Venture is ASTERRA’s Italian channel partner and provides coordination and field support on the detection of water leaks across Italy using ASTERRA’s satellite-based Recover product.

The goals and positive outcomes from this delegation are numerous. “The likely outcomes from this include increased cooperation and strengthening technology ties between Italy and Israel. We anticipate immediate positive benefits to be realized for the entire country of Italy,” Perets added.

Biden and Trudeau “called out” by Drag Queens in Los Angeles: “Keep your climate promises or lose your pride!”

“Happy Summit Dear Presidents!”- Avaaz Protest, Summit of the Americas

LOS ANGELES, June 09, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — During Pride month, a group of drag-queens welcomed the arrival of many of the most prominent heads of state at the Summit of the Americas, calling on presidents from the US to Canada to Argentina to become environmental leaders the world could be proud of. The queens paid particular attention to President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau whose countries are behind in paying financial assistance to other nations in the hemisphere to tackle the climate crisis, land degradation and biodiversity loss.

Los Angeles drag-queens Aurora Sexton, Mischa Kinx, Marilyn, Vivienne Vida, Pixie Dot and Hope showed up to the Summit of the Americas dressed as Marilyn Monroe alongside Kalista Stage dressed as Evita. The event, organized by the 70-million member global rights group Avaaz, aimed to draw attention to the extreme impacts the ecological crisis is having across the Americas including tragic migration waves, increased food insecurity, and a mounting financial crisis.

Mischa Kinx, Los Angeles-based drag-queen, said: We are literally lip syncing for our lives! The earth, the one and only mother, is all we have. If world leaders don’t listen today, we’ll just find higher heels so they can’t ignore us tomorrow. It’s time to act on climate change and show us you know what pride means!”

Oscar Soria, Avaaz Campaign Director, said: “This Summit of the Americas can’t be another summit of nice words and empty promises. President Biden, the host of the summit, must offer an ambitious regional cooperation package, including debt relief, so countries in Latin America and the Caribbean can use these resources to protect the environment and their people. If he does not, the United States will face a climate crisis and a migrant crisis it is woefully unprepared to handle.”

Twelve years after the Obama-Biden administration’s $100 billion pledge to support low income countries experiencing disproportionate impacts from the climate crisis, the US is still falling *tens of billions* short of delivering on its promise. This week’s Summit is another opportunity for Biden to restore America’s image in the Americas, committing to pay $32-49 billion per year in climate funding.

Notes to the editor:

The drag queens each sang a spoof version of “Happy birthday, Mr. President” to life-sized cut-outs of the heads of states of the United States (Joe Biden), Canada (Justin Trudeau), Argentina (Alberto Fernandez), Brazil (Jair Bolsonaro) and Ecuador (Guillermo Lasso).

Here’s the message for each head of State:

United States: Addressing US President Joe Biden, Marilyn Monroe reminded President Biden that he needs to pay the money promised to address climate change, and ensure ambition is met at the summit by “saving nature before it’s gone.”

Canada: The Marilyn serenading Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also pressured him to pay the money pledged to halt climate change, and further called on him to end his government’s investments in fossil fuels.

Argentina: President Fernández was urged “not to kneel to the IMF”, and to work for a debt for nature solution. The Argentinian leader was also greeted by his country’s most iconic idol, a drag-queen Evita Peron, who asked him to call upon the rich countries to pay their ecological debt to developing nations. Argentina holds high amounts of sovereign debt, while its territory encompasses important ecosystems that help to regulate the climate in the world.

Ecuador: President Lasso was urged to stop annihilating the Amazon by drilling for oil, primarily to feed demand from California.

Brazil: Brazil’s Bolsonaro faced a Marilyn furious about the destruction of the Amazon and his contempt for the rights of Indigenous peoples.
