PWD STUDENT OBTAINS EXCELLENT SPM RESULTS, HOPES TO IMPROVE FAMILY’S FUTURE


PASIR PUTEH, Despite his condition as a person with disability (PWD) with a shorter left hand, Raja Amirul Mukmin Raja Safari, 18, created history for himself when he obtained excellent results in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination which was announced recently.

The student of Sekolah Menengah Sains Machang who scored 8A and 1B is determined to go to university to change the fate of his family.

Raja Amirul Mukmin said that even though he is disabled from birth, it does not stop him from mastering all subjects.

“I am aware that I am disabled and need to be disciplined and concentrate more than normal friends, especially for English and Additional Mathematics.

“Earlier, it was not that difficult to study but when it got close to the actual exam, there were a lot of attemptations including friends inviting me to play and so on at the dormitory,” he told reporters at Kampung Gong Tengah, Cherang Ruku, here, today.

Raja Amirul Mukmin also admitted that even though he was in a residential school, h
e managed to get up as early as 3 in the morning to study.

Commenting on a university offer, he said he has so far received an offer from the Petronas University of Technology Zakat Trust Fund.

“Alhamdulillah, I accept the offer but I intend to continue my studies at International Islamic University in the field of chemistry,” he said.

Meanwhile, a representative of the Prime Minister’s political secretary (Ahmad Farhan Fauzi) , Zainuddin Ghazali said the MADANI Government welcomes PWD students from low-income families (B40) who get excellent SPM results.

“The MADANI government is concerned in terms of welfare and will follow the current developments of Raja Amirul Mukmin to ensure that his study needs are met until he completes his studies,” he said.

Earlier, Raja Amirul Mukmin received a visit by Kelantan Education Department, Special Education Sector principal assistant director Saipul Bahari Ab Manaf.

E-HAILING DRIVER ASSAULT: COMPLAIN TO IPCC IF DOUBTFUL OF INVESTIGATION – AZALINA


KUALA LUMPUR, Anyone can file a complaint with the Independent Police Conduct Commission (IPCC), which was established in line with the MADANI government’s commitment to protecting the rights of all citizens, especially vulnerable groups, stated Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform), Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said.

“In a country that upholds the rule of law like Malaysia, no one is above the law, and the legal principle states that a person is innocent until proven guilty,” she said in a post on X today, addressing doubts by some quarters about the investigation into a VIP escort who allegedly assaulted a disabled man recently.

She also expressed her appreciation to the Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, and Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Razarudin Husain for their insistence on a thorough investigation into the case.

On Wednesday, Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa reported that they received a complaint at 1 pm on Tuesday from an
e-hailing driver, who claimed he was assaulted by a member of a VIP entourage.

The 46-year-old victim then filed a second report at 9.59 pm the same day, stating that the matter had been resolved amicably and he did not wish to pursue it further.

According to media reports, the victim lodged the initial police report after being punched in the head and told to move his vehicle while waiting for a passenger at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur Sentral.

MALAYSIA BIKE WEEK AIMS TO ATTRACT 50,000 MOTORCYCLE OWNERS, ENTHUSIASTS – EXCO


MELAKA, The Melaka government is aiming for the participation of about 50,000 motorcycle owners and enthusiasts in the three-day Malaysia Bike Week, which starts June 14 at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC).

State Art and Culture Heritage Tourism Committee chairman Datuk Abdul Razak Abdul Rahman said the event, organised in collaboration with the Superbikers Association Malaysia, brings together thousands of enthusiasts and owners of motorcycles of various categories, including classics, as well as high-powered ones.

‘We have also been informed by motoring associations from neighbouring countries, such as Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand, who are interested in participating in this large-scale event.

‘His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, is scheduled to grace the event on June 15,’ he told reporters, after flagging off the Malaysia International Classic Bike Festival Convoy in Melaka City here, today.

He added that the festival will also showcase various selected assets, including mo
torcycles belonging to Sultan Ibrahim, in Halls B and C of MITC, which are open to visitors free of charge.

He said as many as ten motorcycles and one Proton X50 SUV will be up for grabs for the lucky draw winners, held in conjunction with the event.

‘We are 100 per cent prepared to provide facilities for the organisation of the event, in conjunction with the Visit Melaka Year 2024 (VMY2024), which is expected to attract many visitors from home and abroad,’ he said.

Earlier, the Malaysia International Classic Bike Festival convoy was attended by 800 classic motorcycle owners from all over the country, as well as those from Indonesia and Singapore, who camped for three days in Melaka.

STILL MESMERISING MELLY GOESLAW WOWS FANS AT AXIATA ARENA


KUALA LUMPUR, ‘Queen of Soundtrack’ Melly Goeslow once again demonstrated her powerful aura, mesmerising fans with over 20 songs at her concert, ‘Ada Apa dengan Melly and Friends’ at the Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil last night.

In the over two-hour-long concert, the Indonesian singer cum composer wowed about 9,000 of her fans, most of them garbed in their school uniforms, with her hit songs.

Melly, born Melliana Cessy Goeslaw, 50, was acccompanied by an orchestra and her husband, Anto Hoed as the music director, in the graduation night-themed concert.

She kicked off the show with her hit song Tak Tahan Lagi, and was greeted with cheers and thunderous applause from fans who came not only from Malaysia but also Singapore.

“Hello Kuala Lumpur, let’s all be happy today at this concert,” said Melly, before continuing with the numbers Ingin Mencintai, Dicinta and Pencinta Wanita.

Undoubtedly, fans were kept breathless as Melly sang and danced, delivering an entertaining show.

The concert was taken a notch up
when award-winning local hip-hop artiste Joe Flizzow joined Melly on stage to perform the song Jika.

Melly also surprised the audience by featuring Indonesian vocal sensation and fourth place winner of the final show of America’s Got Talent (AGT) Season 18, Putri Ariani.

“I want to thank Putri and that’s why I trust her to perform a song that for me is magma in my career as a songwriter,” she said, while leaving the stage to Putri Ariani to render the songs Cinta Sejati and Kamu dan Kenangan.

The rest of Melly’s repertoire included the songs Berdua Lebih Baik, Bimbang, Ayat-Ayat Cinta, Gantung and My Heart.

BOY FOUND DROWNED IN RIVER


SARIKEI, The body of a 13-year-old boy who reportedly fell into Sungai Lemujan, Pakan, near here, yesterday has been found.

Bintangor Fire and Rescue Department chief Nicholas Belulin said the body of Vincent Tiong Meng Wei, 13, was found at 8.40 am today, about 50 metres from the location he was reported to have gone missing.

He said firemen retrieved his body and handed it over to the police.

“No one witnessed the incident but based on his scream for help, he was said to have fallen into the river at 11.15 am,” he said in a statement today.

Julau district police chief DSP Andam@Sulin Brayun confirmed that the body had been sent to Hospital Sarikei.
