Cambodia, Thailand Not to Allow Any Use of Their Territory against One Another

Cambodia and Thailand have re-emphasised their stance not to allow anyone to use their territory against each other’s country, which is very important for the security of both Cambodia and Thailand as well as their neighbours.

This is the spirit of the meeting here at the Peace Palace this morning between Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of Cambodia, and visiting Thai Foreign Minister H.E. Maris Sangiampongsa.

Both sides lauded the strong relations and cooperation between the two neighbouring nations and welcomed the decision to establish consulate generals in Siem Reap of Cambodia and Songkhla of Thailand, which once operated will further boost the people-to-people exchange and investment.

H.E. Maris Sangiampongsa pledged to do his best to further deepen the relationship between both nations in all domains.

For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen thanked the Thai side for providing favourable condition for Cambodian people and migrant workers to do business, visit, and work
in Thailand by extending the visa validity from 40 to 60 days.

The former Cambodian Premier also encouraged more Thai investors to invest in Cambodia, and urged both sides to orginise different activities to mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two neighbours.

EWON BENEDICK PROCLAIMED FIRST UKKM’S CHANCELLOR


KUALA LUMPUR, The Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick today was proclaimed the first Universiti Keusahawanan Koperasi Malaysia (UKKM) chancellor.

According to UKKM’s statement, the secretary-general of the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry (KUSKOP), Datuk Suriani Ahmad, and former Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun were also announced UKKM’s pro-chancellors at a ceremony held at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre.

In his speech, Ewon said UKKM was established in 2022 to address the lack of skilled and tertiary-educated manpower in the cooperative sector that plays a crucial role in the country’s economic growth.

‘With the establishment of this university, we can provide a platform to produce high-calibre and competent cooperative entrepreneurs and managers who are competitive at the national and international levels,’ he said.

Ewon said UKKM provides a comprehensive and relevant curriculum aligned with industry needs to ensure gradua
tes can make positive and significant changes in the cooperative movement in Malaysia.

According to Ewon, studies at UKKM also involve practical experiences for students at selected cooperatives during the final semester to enhance their skills and ensure they are ready to embrace challenges in the cooperative industry.

He called on all agencies under KUSKOP, especially the Cooperative Commission of Malaysia and premier cooperatives such as Bank Rakyat and Co-opbank Pertama, as well as those in the top 100, to lend their support to UKKM in terms of investment, educational sponsorship, and placement for industrial training.

Ewon also announced several important initiatives undertaken by UKKM, including its involvement in the pilot project to end poverty in Sabah by accepting 20 students for diploma and bachelor’s degree programmes starting next month.

Ewon also announced sponsorship for Palestinian students to pursue bachelor and doctorate programmes at the university, making them UKKM’s first internationa
l intake, and symbolically presented the offer letter to the Palestinian Ambassador to Malaysia, Walid Abu Ali.

The ceremony also witnessed the launch of UKKM’s doctorate programme and Programme for Executives (P4E), which will commence in July.

Built in the 12th century by King Suryavarman II (1112-1152AD), Angkor Wat Temple is the largest religious monument in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Last year, the temple was crowned the eighth wonder of the world by beating Italy’s Pompeii, said the Time
of India Travel, indicating that Eighth Wonder of the World is an unofficial title given to new buildings or projects or designs, among others.

The Empire State Building in New York City, the United States of America was crowned the best tourist destination in the world by Tripadvisor, followed by the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France and Anne Frank House in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

In Asia, there are the Gardens by the Bay of Singapore, Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre of the United Arab Emirates, Mutianyu Great Wall of China, Taj Mahal of India, Petra of Jordan, and Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine of Japan that won the 8th, 10th, 19th, 22nd, 23rd, 24th places, respectively.

SKDS 2.0 OPEN DAY EXTENDS TO OTHER PENINSULAR MALAYSIA STATES


PUTRAJAYA, Following the positive response to the diesel subsidy application during the Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS) 2.0 Open Day in Selangor recently, the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) will now extend this initiative to other locations in Peninsular Malaysia starting today.

In a statement to Bernama, KPDN announced that the SKDS 2.0 Open Day aims to provide freight companies with information on SKDS 2.0 and the application process for approval and fleet cards.

The dates and locations for the SKDS 2.0 Open Day are as follows:

Cambodian Senior Officers Attending Capacity Building Programme in India

A total of 40 senior officers from the Ministry of Civil Services and the Senate of Cambodia have been participating in the 5th Capacity Building programme on Public Policy and Governance at the National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG) in Mussoorie, India.

According to PIB Delhi, the two-week programme, taking place from June 24 to July 5, offers a platform for policy dialogue and sharing best practices, helping participants gain valuable insights into institutional transformation and citizen engagement.

The inaugural session was chaired by Shri V. Srinivas, Director General NCGG and Secretary Department of Administrative Reform and Public Grievances (DARPG), Government of India who highlighted the role of technology in bringing citizens closer to government, while optimising transparency and accountability. India’s policy maxim of ‘Minimum Government and Maximum Governance’ seeks to bring citizens and government closer using technology, and creating digitally empowered citizens and digitally transformed
institutions. The example of Centralised Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS), the AI-driven public grievance redressal portal of India, was presented.

Mr. Mam Phoeuk, Deputy Director General, Ministry of Civil Services and head of delegation from Cambodia expressed gratitude to the Indian Government for this opportunity. He emphasised that the training programme would not only enhance capacity building but also foster bilateral dialogue and lead to strengthening of ties between India and Cambodia.

Dr. BS Bisht, Associate Professor, NCGG and Course Coordinator of the programme gave detailed information about the NCGG and the milestones achieved by the NCGG over the years. In the elaborate presentation, he discussed about objectives, activities, achievements, and future plans of NCGG and how it has evolved as a Centre for excellence. In the first week, the training will focus on a variety of topics, including Public Policy and Management, GeM: Bringing Transparency in Government Procureme
nt, the Indian Constitutional Scheme, India-Cambodia Relations, Public-Private Partnerships in Infrastructure, Aadhaar as a Tool for Good Governance, Health Governance, the impact of Parliamentary Devices on governance, Best Practices from various development schemes, approaches to achieving SDG by 2023, Viksit Bharat: Policies and Developments in Industry and Infrastructure, Financial Inclusion, the Changing Paradigm of Governance, Leadership and Communication, Urban Governance and Sustainable Cities, Civil Services in India, Doorstep Delivery of Services, E-Governance and Digital Public Service Delivery, Gender Development, and Ethics in Administration, among others.

The second phase of the programme will include field visits to Smart City project and ITDA in Dehradun, District Administration in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, the Union Public Service Commission and Indian Parliament. The programme also gives exposure to history and culture of the country during visits to the PM Sangrahalaya, Buddha Te
mple and the Taj Mahal.

NCGG has imparted training to civil servants of 17 countries viz. Bangladesh, Kenya, Tanzania, Tunisia, Seychelles, Gambia, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Laos, Vietnam, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, Ethiopia, Eretria and Cambodia.

Dr. Himanshi Rastogi, Associate Professor at NCGG, delivered the vote of thanks. The programme will be supervised and coordinated by Dr. B. S. Bisht, course coordinator, along with Dr. Sanjeev Sharma, co-course coordinator, Shri. Brijesh Bisht, Training Assistant, Ms. Monisha Bahuguna, Young Professional and the capacity building team of the NCGG.
