23rd Angkor International Half-Marathon Attracts 10,500 Runners

Some 10,500 runners from 78 countries have joined the 23rd Angkor International Half-Marathon taking place in Siem Reap province.

The figure suggests an increase of 15 percent compared with last year's runners of the same event.

Of the runners in Dec. 2 half-marathon, 5,200 are foreigners, mostly from France, the United Kingdom and the United States of America.

H.E. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism and President of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC), spoke highly of the event, stressing that it is another success in organising such event wherein the number of joiners increased every year.

The growth of national and international participants in the annual half-marathon reflects the trust on the country's peace, political stability and development, he added.

The event was supported by a Cambodia's leading life insurance company Manulife.
