3rd National Games and 1st National Para Games Concluded with Solemn Ceremony

The 3rd National Games and 1st National Para Games, which began on Nov. 19, was wrapped up this evening in a solemn ceremony.
Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen presided over the closing ceremony held at the Morodok Techo National Stadium in Khan Chroy Changvar, Phnom Penh.
The closing ceremony featured different fabulous scenes and interesting activities to promote the Cambodian sports sector in the line with cultural preservation.
Speaking on the occasion, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his pride of the sports event and thanked the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, all the sports federations, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, and the athletes for their contribution to the success of the 3rd National Games and 1st National Para Games.
The Premier also announced to join chess competition in the 4th National Games in 2024.
Held at five destinations including Phnom Penh capital and the provinces of Kep, Kampot, Preah Sihanouk and Siem Reap under the theme “Sports Bring Peace and Development”, the sports event, organised every two years, attracted more than 4,500 athletes of 38 kinds of sports and 7 kinds of para sports from across the country to compete in 405 sports disciplines.
The 3rd National Games and 1st National Para Games offered a good opportunity for the technical officers and athletes to join the games to draw experience and further develop the capacity toward the 32nd SEA Games and the 12th ASEAN Para Games 2023 in the Kingdom.
The National Games were successfully held in 2016 and in 2018, but were postponed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
