500 Delegates to Attend 43rd AIPA General Assembly in Phnom Penh

More than 500 delegates of ASEAN member states, observer countries, and organisations will attend the 43rd ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) General Assembly in Phnom Penh.
Themed “Advancing Together for Sustainable, Inclusive and Resilient ASEAN”, the AIPA will be held from Nov. 20-25.
Two ASEAN member states – Malaysia and Myanmar – will be absent at the event, National Assembly (NA) Spokesperson H.E. Leng Peng Long said.
The official opening ceremony of the 43rd AIPA General Assembly will be held on Nov. 21 with a welcome royal message by His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia.
Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister and Samdech Vibol Sena Pheakdei Say Chhum, President of Senate, will deliver their remarks along with Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, Cambodian NA President and Chair of the 43rd AIPA.
The AIPA meeting is held annually as a forum for ASEAN member states’ legislators to discuss and provide advice and consultation to their governments and the bloc itself.
This year’s meeting will be hosted by Cambodia as part of its slate of duties as the 2022 ASEAN rotating chair.
The Cambodian NA has prepared a great deal of content and activities for the meetings, H.E. Leng Peng Long pointed out.
“The National Assembly is the host institution and has prepared the content which focuses on the centrality of ASEAN and the strengthening of its resilience, meaning that all ASEAN nations must move together and develop together,” he said.
