A Cambodian Advocate Wins Franco-German Prize for Human Rights and the Rule of Law

A Cambodian female advocate has been named the recipient of the Franco-German Prize for Human Rights and the Rule of Law.

She is Ms. Chak Sopheap, Executive Director for the Cambodian Centre for Human Rights (CCHR).

Ms. Chak Sopheap is among the 15 winners of this year's prize. Other figures are from South Africa, China, CAte d'Ivoire, Egypt, Equitorial Guinea, India, Lebanon, Mauritania, Peru, Russia, Syria, Palestinian Territories, Thailand, and Venezuela.

Since 2016, this prize has been awarded every year to figures who have made an exceptional contribution to the protection and promotion of human rights and the rule of law in their country and at the international level. This prize reaffirms the constant commitment of France and Germany to human rights and the rule of law and helps strengthen their cooperation in this area.
