A Costal Province Wins ASEAN Clean Tourist City Award

Kep Province, some 170 kilometres southwest of Phnom Penh capital, will be awarded the ASEAN Clean Tourist City Award in Thailand later this month, according to the Ministry of Tourism.

In a recent letter to Kep provincial governor, signed by H.E. Thong Khon, Tourism Minister and Chairman of the National Committee for Clean City Assessment, the award ceremony will take place on Jan. 26 during the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2018 in Thailand's Chiang Mai province.

ASEAN Tourism Forum is one of the most significant annual tourism promotional events in Asia and is hosted on a rotation basis among the ASEAN member countries. The fair is made up of numerous high-level events, including a meeting of ASEAN Tourism Ministers, a tourism conference, and Travel Exchange Trade Fair.

Kep province is major tourism hub in the country. In the first ten months of last year, some 600,000 international tourists visited the province.
