In August, 2021 alone, competent authorities intervened about 440 major cases of illicit drug crimes, up 111 cases or 33.7 percent compared the same period in 2020.
The update was shared by Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Samdech Kralahom Sar Kheng in a recent post on his official Facebook page.
He underlined that nearly 58 kilogrammes of illegal were confiscated — a drop of over 161 kilogrammes or 73.6 percent compared to July 2020.
In August, 861 suspects were arrested and 21 of them were foreigners.
The illicit drugs confiscated including tablets and powder methamphetamine, ketamine, ecstasy, nimetazepam, and marijuana, he added.\
