The French Development Agency (AFD) has provided some 30 million Euro in concessional loan to Cambodia for the expansion of capacity of Chamcar Mon clean water plant and water distribution system of Phnom Penh Water Supply Authority (PPWSA).

The loan agreement was signed here yesterday by Cambodian Secretary of State at the Ministry of Economy and Finance H.E. Vongsey Vissoth and the AFD representative, in the presence of the ministry’s officials and representatives of the French Embassy in Cambodia.

Speaking on the occasion, H.E. Vongsey Vissoth said that through the project, PPWSA will be able to supply up to 52,000 cubic metres of clean water per day from the current 14,000 cubic metres.

This is the fifth concessional loan AFD provided to Cambodia. In the framework of financing cooperation between Cambodia and France, the Government of France, through AFD, has extended over 429 million Euro in grant aid and loan to Cambodia since 1993.
