Agriculture Minister Lauds Cambodia-Australia Cooperation in Agri-Food Investment Promotion

Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries H.E. Veng Sakhon has spoken highly of the good cooperation between all stakeholders, particularly the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) and the Australian Embassy in promoting the agricultural and agri-food investment in the Kingdom.

H.E. Minister made the appreciation at the launching ceremony of the website of Agri-food Investment Desk (AFID) situated at the CDC and promotional videos held here late last week.

H.E. Sok Chenda Sophea, Minister attached to the Prime Minister and Secretary General of the CDC, and H.E. Pablo Kang, Australian Ambassador to Cambodia, also attended the event organised by CDC in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) and the Cambodia-Australia Agricultural Value Chain Programme (CAVAC), supported by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), with the participation of more than 140 participants including diplomatic corps, representatives of relevant ministries/institutions, as well as the private sector.

H.E. Veng Sakhon expressed his hope that with the AFID’s website and promotional videos will increase agri-food investment in Cambodia and contribute to implementing the Cambodia Industrial Development Policy 2015-2025, Agricultural Development Policy 2022-2030, and Strategic Plan for Agro-Industrial Development 2019-2030.

He also laid stress on the importance of agriculture sector in ensuring food security and encouraged the private sector and development partners to invest in agricultural processing.

H.E. Minister also thanked CAVAC and the Australian government for their support in promoting agri-food investment which will contribute to turn Cambodian farmers into farmer-entrepreneurs.
