Alliance Francaise Siem Reap Inaugurated

France has opened a French Alliance in Siem Reap province, called Alliance Francaise Siem Reap, to strengthen its relations and cooperation with Cambodia.

The official inauguration ceremony was presided over by Mr. Pin Prakad, Siem Reap Provincial Deputy Governor, and H.E. Mrs. Eva Nguyen Binh, French Ambassador to Cambodia.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Pin Prakad welcomed the presence of Alliance Francaise Siem Reap, stressing that it will further boost the bilateral relationship and cooperation between the two countries, especially attract more French investors and tourists to Cambodia.

The deputy governor recalled the sister-city ties between Siem Reap province and some cities and provinces of France, which focus on cooperation in the fields of tourism, vocational training, clean water, agriculture, drainage system, restoration of ancient temples, and so on.

For her part, H.E. Mrs. Eva Nguyen Binh emphasised the importance of the French Alliance Siem Reap, explaining that it provides French language courses and vocational training.

It is also a place where French and Cambodian experts can exchange their experiences and both countries' investors can meet and form their partnership, she added, hoping that the Alliance Francaise Siem Reap will boost confidence among French investors and tourists in this cultural province.

According to figures from Siem Reap Provincial Administration, more than 105,000 French visitors traveled to Siem Reap in 2018, a year-on-year increase by 4.61 percent, ranking them sixth among foreign tourists visiting Siem Reap.

In addition, there are in total 101 French companies and enterprises registered in the province of Siem Reap.
