Almost 2,300 Kg of Gold Extracted in Nine Months, Says PM

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen said Cambodia’s black gold had faced some problems, but expressed his optimism over the potential of real gold after the extraction began since June last year.
At the inauguration ceremony of Chom Chao flyover and underpass here this morning, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said the oil production did not go as expected, but the gold extraction in northeastern Cambodia is very potential.
“In nine months, a total 2,275 kilogrammes of gold ore have been extracted and we would obtain 2 tonnes of gold after refining,” he underlined.
Renaissance Minerals Cambodia started refining gold in June 2021, becoming the first commercial gold refining company in Cambodia.
According to the plan, the company can produce about 3 tonnes of gold ore per year in the first eight years.
