Almost 400,000 Foreign Tourists Visit Phnom Penh in Q1

During the first three months of 2016, some 372,460 foreign tourists of 170 nationalities arrived in Phnom Penh, via Phnom Penh International Airport, showing an increase by 11.41 percent compared with the same period last year.

According to Phnom Penh Municipal Department of Tourism, of the visitors, some 291,594 came to Phnom Penh for relaxation, 53,632 for business, 9,723 for official or working visit, and 17,511 others are Cambodian people living abroad.

The most visited places in the capital city are Wat Phnom resort, Choeung Ek Killing Field and the Royal Palace.

Meanwhile, Phnom Penh received some 57,181 national tourists, up 5.80 percent as compared with the same period of the previous year.

A report of the Ministry of Tourism shows that the number of foreign visitors to Cambodia reached some 1.34 million in the first quarter of this year, up about 2.6 percent.

The Vietnamese remained at the top of foreign tourists to Cambodia, followed by the Chinese, Koreans, Thais, Americans, Laotians and Japanese.
