Angkor Dairy: Cambodia-Vietnam Joint Venture

Investors of Cambodia and Vietnam are co-investing US$23 million in dairy manufacturing in Cambodia for both domestic demand and export.

The manufacturer of 49 percent and 51 percent joint-venture between Cambodia’s BPC Trading and Vinamilk, the largest dairy company in Vietnam, was officially opened on May 25 under the auspices of H.E. Men Sam An, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Assembly-Senate Relations and Inspection.

The named Angkor Dairy Factory is located in Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone, at the suburb of the capital along National Road No. 4.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Thach Du who also presided over the inauguration, acknowledged the good relationship between the two governments that enables increasing commercial and economic cooperation as well as investments.

According to the ambassador, currently there are about 180 Vietnam’s investment projects with US$280 billion, making the country the 5th biggest investor in Cambodia.

Director General of BPC Trading Oknha Phat Bun shared the vision of the Angkor Dairy Factory to not only serve the domestic, but also international markets, especially countries in ASEAN.

Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Ms. Men Sam An expressed no doubt about the factory’s success and was optimistic that it will lay foundation of dairy products in the country and reduce imports.
