ASEAN Federation of Textile Industries Achieves Common Interests

The ASEAN Federation of Textile Industries (AFTEX) has achieved common interests for all stakeholders and communities under cooperation in economy and trade.

The remark was made by Minister of Commerce H.E. Pan Sorasak during the opening of the AFTEX 42nd Council Meeting and 39th Plenary Session, at Sokha Phnom Henh Hotel and Residence late last week.

The minister presided over the event along with Mr. Van Sou Ieng, Chairman of the Garment Manufacturers Association in Cambodia (GMAC), and Mr. Phongsak Assakul, Honorary Chairman of AFTEX.

H.E. Pan Sorasak also highlighted progress of strong economic growth of Cambodia over the last two decades under leadership of the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC).

Cambodia with complete peace, political stability, security, and social order has been recognised as a new tiger in Asia by the World Bank and Asian Development Bank (ADB), he continued.

The minister further laid stress on the effort of the Royal Government in the construction of infrastructure, the enhancement of business environment and trade facilitation.

He added that Cambodia’s rapid growth cannot be separated from the implementation of ASEAN Single Window (ASW) in order to boost goods and service integration in regional and global production network and give advantages to AFTEX and the whole ASEAN Economic Community.
