Visiting H.E. Dato Lim Jock Hoi, ASEAN Secretary-General, has expressed his support for Cambodia as the ASEAN Chair in 2022 and shared his optimism for the future of ASEAN despite some pressing challenges.
The support was made in a meeting here yesterday with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Prak Sokhonn, followed by a delightful luncheon.
H.E. Prak Sokhonn, through his official Facebook page wrote, “We discussed several issues as we are preparing for the upcoming major ASEAN meetings this year. I briefed him of the key priorities and deliverables as ASEAN Chair and was pleased to receive his full support. We shared a sense of optimism for the future of ASEAN despite some pressing challenges. We believe that the spirit of solidarity and togetherness of ASEAN will prevail.”
In a courtesy meeting with Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, earlier on the same day, H.E. Dato Lim Jock Hoi voiced his full support for all Cambodia’s initiatives as the ASEAN Chair this year.
The ASEAN secretary-general is currently on a five-day official visit in Cambodia. He is scheduled to meet with Cambodian relevant ministers under the three community pillars, namely: ASEAN Political-Security; ASEAN Economic; and ASEAN Socio-Cultural Communities.
He will also attend the ASEAN Tourism Ministerial Meeting on Jan. 19 in Sihanoukville, Preah Sihanouk province.
