Authorities To Check Legal Aspects of Cambodia National Rescue Movement’s Creation

The Ministry of Interior will conduct an investigation into the legality of the formation of Cambodia National Rescue Movement announced by self-imposed exile politician Sam Rainsy, former president of the recently dissolved Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP).

Speaking to a group of reporters after the closing ceremony of the annual meeting of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Samdech Kralahom Sar Kheng said it is important to check the legal aspects of the creation of this movement, if it is not right (against the law), legal action will be taken.

Last Saturday in New York, Mr. Sam Rainsy spoke to his supporters about the formation of this new movement.

Mr. Sam Rainsy has been facing different lawsuits, including the recent one filed by the commander-in-chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and armed personnel.

Besides, different arrest warrants have been issued against this self-imposed exile politician for defamation, incitement for discrimination, and for faking Cambodia-Vietnam border treaty.

Mr. Sam Rainsy has been spending almost of his political career abroad by self-imposed exile to avoid jail sentences.
