Battambang’s Bamboo Train (Lori) Resumes Service

Battambang has kick-started new railway track for tourist-oriented bamboo train ride with optimism of increased visitors to the province, according to local media report.

The source indicated that Provincial Governor H.E. Nguon Rattanak joined the launch of the unique tourism product of the northwestern province.

The bamboo train, locally known as Lori, ride had been postponed for improvement. The facility that allows passengers to experiences amazing beauties in the area has attracted many local and international visitors.

Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Tourism Mr. Noun Tha shared in the report that the facility is operated by a local company.

The railway track, he added, stretches for four kilometres passing key locations. For the next phase, the investor will build seven-kilometre track for bamboo train to Sampov Mountain � the province’s well-known cultural and natural attraction site.

H.E. Nguon Rattanak was quoted seeing the Lori operation as means not only to attract visitors, but also promoting jobs and markets for local organic farming.
