Best Videos Promoting Financial Literacy in Cambodia Awarded

Three videos featuring financial literacy promotion in Cambodia, produced by youths and university students, have been selected and awarded, reflecting more participation of young generation in the financial sector.

The final contest, held on June 17, was co-organised by Rithipul, a company empowers Cambodian people and enterprises with the knowledge, skills and leadership in financial management, Association of Banks in Cambodia, the Cambodia Microfinance Association, Credit Bureau Cambodia, and sponsored by Visa.

The three videos were selected through the judgment processes by representatives of partnered and sponsored associations and companies.

The first winner was awarded with 8 million Riel (approximately US$2,000) in cash, while the second and third winners with 6 million Riel (US$1,500) and 4 million Riel (US$1,000), respectively.

The three videos and seven others will be premiered on the social media of partnered institutions of the contest.

Mr. Ngor Lyko, Deputy Director of Financial Inclusion of the Association of Banks of Cambodia, said that the programme is designed to encourage and motivate young men and women to participate in research, create short educational videos on financial knowledge associated with living in a new normal.

“The educational messages produced in these videos embody the meaning, identity, life and practical educational content of financial literacy in our Cambodian society,” he underlined.

“The basic knowledge of finance has made a significant contribution to building a financial education infrastructure for the benefit of the public in choosing the right and appropriate financial services that can help achieve our financial goals, our community, especially the development of our national economy,’ Mr. Ngor Lyko said.
