Bintulu Braces for Clear Skies on Jepak By-Election Morning with Afternoon Thunderstorms

BINTULU — Voters in Jepak are expected to cast their ballots under clear skies tomorrow morning as the by-election for the state constituency gets underway.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Bintulu is forecast to experience clear weather conditions during the morning hours. However, thunderstorms are anticipated in some areas of Bintulu in the afternoon, with rainfall expected at several locations as the night approaches.

The Election Commission (EC) has designated the polling day for the Jepak state by-election to occur from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm. Voters will have access to 14 polling centers and 45 channels during this period.

The electoral contest in Jepak is a three-cornered fight with candidates Iskandar Turkee representing Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), Stevenson Joseph Sumbang from Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK), and Chieng Lea Phing of Parti Aspirasi Rakyat Sarawak (Aspirasi) vying for the seat.

This by-election is conducted following the passing of the incumbent GPS representative Datuk Talib Zulpilip on September 15.

The Jepak state constituency has a voter population of 22,804, which includes 22,761 ordinary voters and 43 policemen.
