British Prime Minister’s New Trade Envoy Lauds Cambodia’s Progress

Visiting Honourable Edward Vaizey, British Prime Minister's new Trade Envoy to Cambodia, has spoken highly of the progress in Cambodia, saying that he has never thought that Cambodia achieved such rapid development.

The trade envoy made the appreciation while meeting with H.E. Pan Sorasak, Cambodian Minister of Commerce, in Phnom Penh yesterday, according to a news release of the Ministry of Commerce.

Honourable Edward Vaizey said during his visit, he learned more clearly about the trade relations between the two countries through the meeting with some British investors and noted potential sectors for more investment such as health, agriculture, technology, tourism and construction.

For his part, H.E. Minister expressed Cambodia's commitment to strengthen trade ties with UK through bilateral Free Trade Agreement (FTA), technical cooperation, and encouragement of more British investors to Cambodia.

On the occasion, H.E. Pan Sorasak called for British investment in lightweight manufacturing sector and car assembly in Cambodia.

Honourable Edward Vaizey pledged to continue the close cooperation between both countries.
