Cambodia and EIF Committed to Strengthening Cooperation under EIF’s Aid for Trade

Cambodia and the Enhanced Integrated Framework (EIF) have been committed to continuing to strengthen cooperation under the EIF’s Aid for Trade to further develop Cambodia’s trade sector.

The commitment was made during a bilateral meeting here yesterday afternoon between H.E. Pan Sorasak, Minister of Commerce, and Dr. Ratnakar Adhikari, Executive Director of EIF, to discuss past achievements and strengthening of bilateral cooperation.

On the occasion, H.E. Pan Sorasak thanked EIF for always providing both technical and financial support for Cambodia through different projects aimed at developing Cambodia’s trade sector.

The minister laid stress on the importance of Aid for Trade to increase job opportunities and economic development of the Least Developed Countries (LDCs), including Cambodia.

H.E. Pan Sorasak further mentioned about main achievements attained over the past ten years through the implementation of projects that have received support from EIF such as EIF Tier 1 project, Cambodia Export Diversification and Expansion Programme 1 (CEDEP I), CEDEP II, Sustainability Support Programme (SSP), Cambodia Trade Integration Strategy (CTIS) 2019-2023, E-Commerce Strategy, and the ongoing Go4eCAM project by the Ministry of Commerce.

The minister also requested EIF to contribute to further business development in Cambodia like the expansion of scope of the Go4eCAM project, capacity development related to e-commerce, CTIS updating, and preparation of Cambodia to graduate from LDC status.
