The Kingdom of Cambodia and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) have recently reviewed the progress of the Country Programme Action Plan (CPAP) 2019-2023 and propose priority interventions for 2023.
The annual review took place here on Oct. 27 under the co-chairmanship of H.E. Rith Vuthy, Deputy Secretary General of Cambodian Rehabilitation and Development Board of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CRDB/CDC), and Ms. Sandra Bernklau, UNFPA Representative in Cambodia.
According to a CDC’s press release dated Nov. 3, in 2022, in reference to the mid-term review, the UNFPA has achieved desired results in sexual reproductive health and rights, adolescents and youths, and population dynamics that promote access to healthcare and support human capital investment as articulated in the Rectangular Strategy- Phase IV (RS-IV) and the National Development Strategic Plan (NSDP). The remaining activities will continue to be implemented and reviewed in 2023.
As for 2023, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Planning, and Ministry of Women’s Affairs will continue to expand their services provision and strengthen their capacities to those who have yet received. The four implementing ministries will, furthermore, continue to review, not to mention adjust, their activities to align with the national priorities.
In addition, the UNFPA has prepared a monitoring and evaluation document, which was drafted by an independent organisation, for CPAP 2019-2023 implementation with the purpose of providing necessary inputs for the preparation of the Country Programne Document 2024-2028.
Through the CPAP 2019-2023, the UNFPA approved a total commitment of US$13 million, or an average of US$2.6 million per year i.e. To further elaborate, the UNFPA has disbursed US$3.9 million in 2022 and plans to provide US$2.6 million in 2023, the final year of the programme.
