Cambodia Appreciates Turkey’s Stance

Cambodia has highly evaluated the Turkish government's position of respecting the Kingdom's sovereignty, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFA-IC) in a press release on the outcomes of Tuesday's meeting between H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Senior Minister and Minister of MFA-IC, and outgoing Turkish Ambassador H.E. Ilhan Kemal Tug.

Turkey considered that the measures taken by the Royal Government of Cambodia in the defense of independence, sovereignty, peace, stability and the strengthening of the rule of law are the internal affairs of Cambodia, said the press release issued yesterday.

Moreover, it added, both sides expressed their satisfaction with the progress in the relationship and good cooperation between the two countries and exchanged their views on cooperation in different fields.

According to the same source, the two sides shared the same idea about trade promotion and direct flight establishment between both nations, which will contribute to enhancing their economic and tourism relations.

The Cambodian top diplomat suggested a meeting of the Joint Economic Commission between the two countries to find ways to boost their economic cooperation and recalled his request to his Turkish counterpart for support to mine clearance activities in Cambodia and to the ASEAN Regional Mine Action Centre.

H.E. Prak Sokhonn also informed the outgoing ambassador of his upcoming visit to Turkey earlier this year in order to prepare for the visit of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, to the country.
