Cambodia Asks Germany to Invest in Auto Spare Parts and Machinery Production

Cambodia wishes to see Germany invest in the production of machinery and auto spare parts in the Kingdom as Germany's technology is well-recognised globally.

The remarks were made known here early this week in a meeting between Cambodian Senior Minister and Minister of Industry and Handicraft H.E. Cham Prasidh and newly appointed German Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Ingo Karsten, according to the Ministry of Industry and Handicraft.

In the meeting, H.E. Cham Prasidh called for German investments in producing all kinds of machinery and auto spare parts thanks to the country's globally well-recognised technology.

The production in Cambodia is for export not only to ASEAN markets with zero-tariff, but also to other markets in the world with special preferential tariff, H.E. Cham Prasidh said.

Through the Industrial Development Policy (IDP) 2015-2025, the Ministry of Industry and Handicraft initiated the establishment of Small- and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) Cluster Zone with an aim to promote the SMEs sector as well as to support processes in medium and light manufacturing industry, underlined H.E. Minister.

In reply, H.E. Ingo Karsten pledged to inform German investors of the investment potential in Cambodia.

According to the German ambassador, a German parliamentary delegation, accompanied by a group of investors, will pay a visit to Cambodia's Siem Reap province next month.
