Cambodia, China Agrees on Numerous Points for Mutual Interests

AKP Phnom Penh, �Cambodia and China agreed on numerous points of bilateral cooperation for the mutual interests, at their 4th Meeting of Inter-Governmental Coordination Committee held here yesterday afternoon.

The meeting was co-chaired by Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Hor Namhong and visiting Chinese State Councilor H.E. Yang Jiechi.

According to H.E. Hor Namhong, both sides agreed to continue the exchange of visit between the two countries' high-level delegations and to strengthen cooperation in the areas of trade, investment, agriculture, tourism, security and so on.

Both sides pushed for the construction of Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville expressway and of an airport in Siem Reap province as soon as possible, and agreed to boost the number of Chinese tourists to Cambodia to reach 2 million by 2020.

On the occasion, Cambodia requested China to buy 300,000 tons of milled rice from Cambodia in 2018.

The preparation for the official visit of Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen to China in May was also a topic of discussion.

H.E. Yang Jiechi arrived in Phnom Penh on April 27 for a two-day official visit in Cambodia.
