Cambodia, China Discuss One Belt One Road Cooperation Plan

Cambodia and China held a discussion meeting here yesterday on the preparation of bilateral cooperation plan in the framework of One Belt One Road (OBOR) initiative.

Chaired by Secretary of State at the Ministry of Economy and Finance H.E. Vongsey Vissoth and Mr. Xiao Weiming, Representative of China’s National Development and Reform Commission, the meeting was attended by officials from concerned ministries and institutions of the two countries.

The meeting is made after both countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Oct.13,2016 on the preparation of bilateral cooperation plan under China’s OBOR initiative during the visit of Chinese President H.E. Xi Jingping to Cambodia, H.E. Vongsey Vissoth said, stressing that Cambodia has voiced her strong support to this initiative.

Cambodia-China bilateral cooperation under the OBOR initiative is a Win-Win cooperation and reflects a new cooperation trend in the framework of South-South Cooperation which will provide benefits for both Cambodia and China and the whole region, he underlined.

Both sides discussed the draft cooperation plan and exchanged views on cooperation in seven prioritised sectors in the OBOR framework, including infrastructure, agriculture, capacity building , special economic zone development, culture and tourism, finance, and environmental protection.
