Cambodia, China Look for Comprehensive Tourism Development Plan for Angkor Area

Senior experts of Cambodia and China met here on July 13 to discuss the elaboration of a Comprehensive Tourism Development Plan at Angkor area.

The Cambodian side was headed by H.E. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism while the Chinese side was led by Vice Director of China National Tourism Administration H.E. Zhang Xilong.

According to Ministry of Tourism, this initiative is aimed to ensure the sustainable and inclusive tourism development in response to the annual increasing number of visitors to Angkor, a UNESCO's World Heritage Site.

The Ministry of Tourism of Cambodia has established a working group to cooperate with Chinese experts in order to transform Siem Reap-Angkor into a clean and green area, said H.E. Thong Khon.

For his part, H.E. Zhang Xilong said he will seek approval from his director on the dispatch of Chinese experts to work with their Cambodian counterparts in the elaboration of the above-said plan.

H.E. Zhang Xilong also pledged to continue sharing good experience on the improvement of standard of different services to promote the tourism sector of Cambodia.
