Cambodia Collects Some US$1 Billion as Tax Income in First Five Months

AKP Phnom Penh, The General Department of Taxation (GDT) of the Ministry of Economy and Finance collected in total more than 4,082 billion Riel (about US$1,020 million), up US$312.24 million or 44 percent compared to the same period of 2016.

The figures were released by H.E. Kong Vibol, Director General of GDT, during a monthly meeting held recently at the GDT's office.

This amount of income represents 59.49 percent of the target set in the national Budget Law 2017, he underlined.

The growth of tax revenue derived from an increase in almost all tax items including tax on income, tax on salary, value-added tax, special tax, he pointed out.

Last year, GDT collected a total of US$1,497 million as tax income � almost 15 percent or US$194.62 million increase, compared to a year earlier.
