Cambodia Considering a Rail Link Between PPSEZ and Phnom Penh International Airport

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport has revealed a plan to build a railway track connecting the Phnom Penh International Airport to Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone (PPSEZ) worth some US$4 million.

This construction plan was put into consideration in order to address the traffic congestion issue and to boost the effective mean to promote trade in the capital, said Senior Minister H.E. Sun Chanthol, Minister of Public Works and Transport yesterday.

“Currently, traffic congestion is a major issue in Phnom Penh, so having a railway connection between PPSEZ and the airport will be suitable for passenger and goods transportation,” he added.

This connection will also help thousands of workers to travel in and out the zone.

According to H.E. Sun Chanthol, this project is in the process of technical study between the Ministry of Public Works and Toll Railway, a local investor.
