Cambodia, Cuba Strengthen Cooperation in News Exchange

The national press agency of Cambodia, Agence Kampuchea Presse (AKP) under the Ministry of Information and Prensa Latina News Agency (PL) of Cuba has renewed their cooperation with a focus on exchange of press services.
The exchange of press service agreement was signed at the Ministry of Information in Phnom Penh on Oct. 25 by the heads of the two news agencies – AKP Director General H.E. Mrs. Sokmom Nimul and visiting PL Chairman H.E. Luis Enrique Gonzalez Acosta, under the presidency of H.E. Khieu Kanharith, Minister of Information, and Ambassador of Cuba to Cambodia H.E. Ms. Liurka Rodríguez Barrios.
The purpose of the Agreement is to promote and enlarge bilateral cooperation in the field of news exchange, in text, photography and audiovisual formats, as well as knowledge in journalism and management.
Under the partner agreement, the two parties will exchange links, webpages and English service and make cooperation and coordination between the two parties within the framework of regional organisations and international federations of which they are members, currently or in the future, during the term of this agreement.
Both parties will pay special attention to national celebrations and national, regional and international events, conferences and meetings of the other Party, for the purposes of news coverage, including photographs and audiovisual material.
The three-year agreement will enter into force on the date of its signature. It may be automatically renewed for a similar period in the absence of a request for suspension or by mutual written agreement.
AKP and PL first signed their cooperation agreement on March 26, 2012.
AKP has so far reached cooperation agreements on information exchange with leading news agencies in China, Vietnam, Russia, Thailand, South Korea, Italy, Bulgaria, Lao PDR and so on.
