Cambodia Elected as Member of Executive Board of UNDP/UNFPA/UNOPS for 3 Years

The Kingdom of Cambodia has been recently elected as member of the Executive Board of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)/United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)/United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) for a three-year term.

According to a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Cambodia will host this post from Jan. 1, 2018 to Dec. 31, 2020.

The election of Cambodia's candidature by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) reconfirmed the international recognition of the Kingdom's increasing important role that it can play to contribute to agenda-setting on specific theme of sustainable development, it added.

As a fast-growing economy with remarkable performance on poverty reduction as well as the Millennium Development Goals, Cambodia is confident that its experiences could be beneficial to the UN's endeavor to address global development issues.
