Cambodia Holds Capacity Building Workshop on Understanding Issues for RCEP Negotiations

The Ministry of Commerce, in cooperation with the Economic Research Institute (ERIA) for ASEAN and East Asia, organised here last week the Capacity Building Workshop on Understanding Issues for Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Negotiations.

According to a news release of the Ministry of Commerce, the workshop was co-chaired by H.E. Ms. Tekreth Kamrang, Secretary of State for Commerce, and Mr. Jeremy Gross, Director for Capacity Building and representative of ERIA.

The workshop aimed at strengthening negotiation skills and providing in-depth knowledge on RCEP for Cambodian officials, including initiatives and strategies to further enrich their experience as negotiators, thus bringing about better and even more fruitful results in the conclusion of this agreement (RCEP) in the near future, said the same source.

On the occasion, H.E. Ms. Tekreth Kamrang thanked Mr. Jeremy Gross and ERIA for their support to further strengthen Cambodian officials’ capacity and looked forward to more cooperation in the future.

Cambodia is highly committed to promote economic growth and development. The Royal Government of Cambodia will continue its efforts in achieving these goals. With the hope to conclude the RCEP negotiations by the end of this year, the current negotiations and soon implementation process will hopefully ensure better standard of living along with other benefits for the Cambodian people and beyond.
