Cambodia Hosts a Forum on Protection and Conservation of Natural Resources

Cambodia’s Ministry of Environment in collaboration with relevant local and international partners, including civil society organisations, hosted here this morning the Forum on Protection and Conservation of Natural Resources.

This forum was chaired by H.E. Say Samal, Minister of Environment and attended by various stakeholders.

Speaking at the forum, H.E. Say Samal said the Royal Government of Cambodia has been paying high attention to the ecological and biodiversity protection.

Actually, a total of 1.4 million hectares have recently been approved as the biodiversity conservation corridors, he added.

According to H.E. Minister, the creation of these biodiversity conservation corridors along with the existing 45 natural protected areas of 5.9 million hectares have expanded Cambodia’s natural protected area system to a total of more than 7.3 million hectares.
