Cambodia Hosts a Public Forum on Lancang-Mekong Cooperation

Cambodian Institute for Strategic Studies (CISS) organised here this morning a Public Forum on Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC): Building Peace and Prosperity in the Greater Mekong Sub-Region.

The event attracted participants from Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam that share river, border and similar culture, to seek ways to strengthen their cooperation in the fields of energy, infrastructure, production possibility, sustainable natural resource management, liberalisation, trade, tourism, public health, cultural exchange, capacity building, poverty alleviation, ASEAN-China strategic partnership, security threats, and so on.

The forum was chaired by H.E. Sok Siphana, Advisor to the Royal Government of Cambodia and President of SokSiphana and Associates; Mr. Kong Phok, Co-Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of CISS; Mr. Song Junying, Deputy General Secretary of LMC Research Centre of the Chinese Institute of International Studies; and Dr. Chen Hongsheng, President of the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies of China’s Guangxi Academy of Social Sciences.
