Cambodia Hosts Cambodian-Lao Joint Boundary Commission Extraordinary Meeting

The Extraordinary Meeting of Cambodian-Lao, Lao-Cambodian Joint Boundary Commission ended here yesterday with three agreed points.

The Cambodian side was headed by H.E. VarKimhong, Senior Minister in charge of Border Affairs, and the Lao side was led by H.E. SaleumxayKommasith, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

According to a press release issued after the meeting, both sides agreed to conduct joint field visit to two areas (002-003, 029, and 030 border markers) in the near future, to establish a working group to study the possibility to plant additional border markers, and to continue their discussion on other parts of the common border that have not reached any agreement yet.

The daylong meeting took place in a close and honest atmosphere based on the spirit of mutual respect, underlined the same source.

Cambodia and Laos share the common border of 540 kilometers. Up to now, 121 out of 145 border markers have been planted.
