Cambodia, India Boost Tourism Cooperation

Cambodia and India have discussed strategies to boost the flow of tourists in a tourism promotion event, Incredible India Road Show 2018?.

The event, held last week in Siem Reap province, home to the famous Angkor temples, was presided over by H.E. Hor Monyrath, Cambodian Under Secretary of State for Tourism, H.E. Ms. Rashmi Verma, Secretary of India's Ministry of Tourism, and Indian Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Ms. Manika Jain.

On the occasion, H.E. Hor Monyrath highly valued the outcomes of the Cambodia-India tourism cooperation which has contributed significantly to the increase of tourist flows between both nations. He also called on all stakeholders of the two countries to pay attention to the facilitation of tourists' travel, joint promotion of tourism market, organisation of tourism events such as familiarisation trips (FAM Trips), roadshow, etc.,

According to H.E. Hor Monyrath, Cambodia expects to attract 80,000 Indian visitors in 2018, while in the first two months of this year, 10,750 Indian tourists visited the Kingdom, a year-on-year increase of 10 percent.

Last year, Cambodia welcomed 5.6 million foreign visitors, of them 59,571 were Indians.

Beside Siem Reap province, Incredible India Road Show 2018? was also held in Phnom Penh, attracting 79 tour companies in Cambodia, and 15 others from India.
