Cambodia has kick-started the Southeast Asian Chess Games (Ouk Chaktrang) Championship 2023 for the first time.

Addressing the opening ceremony of the event here in Phnom Penh last weekend, H.E. Kuch Kimlong, President of Cambodia Chess Federation, warmly welcomed the participation of all athletes.

This is the first time for the federation to organise the event through the support from the Cambodian SEA Games Organising Committee (CAMSOC).

The Chess Game Championship 2023 is a friendly competition among athletes in Southeast Asian region.

It is part of a warmup on technical coordination among international arbitrators, judges and athletes toward the SEA Games 2023 hosted Cambodia.

Taking place from Jan. 7 to 13, the event attracted the participation of 62 athletes, arbitrators, and judges from Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam and Laos.
