Cambodia, Korea Committed for Swift Entry into Force of Bilateral FTA

The Kingdom of Cambodia and the Republic of Korea (RoK) have been committed to complete the internal procedures so that the Cambodia-Korea Free Trade Agreement (CKFTA) will come into force as soon as possible.
The commitment was made by Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia and H.E. Moon Jae-in, President of RoK, during their meeting in Seoul, RoK this afternoon, on the sidelines of the World Summit 2022, according to H.E. Kao Kim Hourn, Minister Attached to the Cambodian Premier.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen asked H.E. Moon Jae-in to encourage more Korean investors to invest in Cambodia, especially in processing industry with the Plus One formula, i.e. if a Korean company invests in Thailand or Vietnam, it can also invest in Cambodia.
For his part, the Korean president said Korea will continue to cooperate with Cambodia in the fields of trade and investment, adding that some 300 Korean companies are operating in the Kingdom.
Signed on Oct. 26, 2021, CKFTA will be an important driving force to promote trade and investment flow between Cambodia and South Korea with mutual benefit, especially to accelerate the economic recovery of both countries after serious impacts by the COVID-19 pandemic. The agreement will also contribute to enhancing long-term, strong partnership, strengthening economic partnership and expanding bilateral trade liberalisation between the two nations.
