Cambodia Marks 2016 National Anti-Human Trafficking Day

Cambodia celebrated yesterday at Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Centre, Phnom Penh the 2016 National Anti-Human Trafficking Day (Dec. 12) under the presidency of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Samdech Kralahom Sar Kheng, Chairman of National Committee for Counter Trafficking in Persons.

Speaking on the occasion, Samdech Sar Kheng said the Royal Government of Cambodia has urged all countries in the region to increase their cooperation in combating human trafficking in all forms through effective and severe condemnation of criminals.

Cambodia will use the existing legal instruments as a foundation to crack down on all cross-border human trafficking cases, underlined the DPM.

For her part, H.E. Ms. Chou Bun Eng, Secretary of State for Interior and Permanent Vice Chairwoman of National Committee for Counter Trafficking in Persons, said human trafficking is a serious social problem which harms both physically and psychologically the victims. It therefore needs to be prevented and eliminated timely, she said.
