Cambodia Marks World Oral Health Day

Cambodia celebrated here on Mar. 20 the World Oral Health Day 2017 under the theme “Live Mouth Smart” under the presidency of H.E. Mam Bunheng, Minister of Health.

The annual celebration was organised by Cambodian Dental Association (CDA) in cooperation with FDI World Dental Federation

As oral issues derive from many factors and they are related to attitude, habit and actions for years, their solutions need to be carried out with stages for long-term period, together with participation from the public, private institutions, and relevant partners, said H.E. Minister.

H.E. Mam Bunheng also affirmed the Ministry of Health’s high attention to the public’s health and welfare, including oral health. The ministry will continue its efforts while encouraging more contribution from the private sector to promote dental sector in Cambodia, he added.

Mr. Kor Hok Sim, President of CDA, said this is the third time that Cambodia joined the world in commemorating the World Oral Health Day. The aim of the event was to increase awareness on the significance of oral health, deep relation and its effect to general health and quality of life, he underlined.

To promote oral health education and care widely among the Cambodian people, CDA has printed 20,000 books and posters in Khmer for distribution to students, teachers and the public, added Mr. Kor Hok Sim.
