Cambodia, Pakistan Mull Agricultural Development Cooperation

Cambodia and Pakistan are considering a joint Memorandum of Understanding on agriculture development cooperation.

The move was underlined in a meeting between H.E. Veng Sakhon, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and H.E. Zaheeruddin Babar Thaheem, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Cambodia here in Phnom Penh on Wednesday.

H.E. Veng Sakhon said the MoU will help share mutual experience and knowledge on agriculture modernisation, diversification and commercialisation between the two countries.

The minister highlighted Cambodia’s agricultural development, transforming from food insecurity to food surplus in the country.

Cambodia has 6 million tonnes of food surplus and is upgrading it into export quality, he added.

H.E. Zaheeruddin Babar Thaheem agreed on the joint MoU, especially focusing on livestock production and fisheries.

The MoU will allow Pakistan to share good experience and knowledge with Cambodia and learn from the country as well, he continued.
