Cambodia Plans to Build a Railway in Phnom Penh

Cambodia’s Ministry of Public Works and Transports hosted here yesterday a meeting on the construction of a railway in Phnom Penh.

This meeting was chaired by Senior Minister H.E. Sun Chanthol, Minister of Public Works and Transport and attended by Mr. Philippe Chatignoux, Chief of Economic Services at the Embassy of France in Cambodia, representatives from the Agence Francaise de Developpement (AFD), Royal Railway, Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone (PPSEZ), State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA), and Cambodia Airports.

According to the ministry’s news release, the meeting focused on the pre-feasibility study of the construction of a railway connecting downtown Phnom Penh to the airport and PPSEZ.

On the occasion, H.E. Sun Chanthol expressed his strong appreciation and gratitude to the Embassy of France and the participating stakeholder companies for their ongoing support and assistance in helping to enhance Cambodia’s infrastructure development.

H.E. Sun Chanthol encouraged the Cambodia Airports and Royal Railway to work closely together to implement this important project.
