Cambodia Receives 222 Military Vehicles from RoK

Republic of Korea (ROK) has donated a total of 222 military vehicles to the Ministry of National Defence of Cambodia in contribution to strengthen Cambodian military personnel in ensuring public order and maintaining peace.

The logistics donation handover ceremony took place at Techo Hun Sen Military Technical Institute in Kampong Speu province this morning under the presidency of Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defence Gen. Tea Banh and visiting Deputy Minister of Defence of RoK H.E. Kang Byung-joo.

Speaking on the occasion, H.E. Gen. Tea Banh spoke highly of the donation and appreciated the RoK's contribution to the development of Cambodia's military sector.

For his part, H.E. Kang Byung-joo shared similar view with the Cambodian defence minister that the military logistics will contribute to promoting cooperation and friendship between both countries, to strengthening security and to improving Cambodian military equipment.

According to Gen. Chao Phirun, Director General of the Technical Material General Department of the Ministry of National Defence, the donation, the third of its kind, includes 208 cars and military trucks, 14 engineering machinery and spare parts.

Since 2010, he pointed out, RoK has granted a total of 717 military trucks and engineering machinery to Cambodia, and in coming July there will be another logistics donation including 135 vehicles, 8 engineering machinery, 2 river patrol boats and possibly 30-50 GMC transport trucks.
